"Tomb Raider: Catalyst" Official Announcement

After many years the time has finally come!

A new Tomb Raider game has finally been announced at The Game Awards during gaming's most important night, and it was certainly one of the shows' higlights.

But let's dive deep into what's in store for Lara's future by describing what we've seen and what can actually be "Tomb Raider: Catalyst", Crystal Dynamics' future title in the saga, as the new Unified Era is becoming a bit clearer.

An official statement by the studio has also been made about the title:

"Tomb Raider: Catalyst, developed by Crystal Dynamics, marks a bold new direction for the series as Lara Croft embarks on a new adventure across Northern India. Tomb Raider: Catalyst is set in the wake of a mythical cataclysm that has unleashed ancient secrets and awakened the mysterious forces that guard them. When the most notorious treasure hunters from around the world descend on the region, Lara races to uncover the truth buried beneath the fractured landscape and stop those who would use its power for their own gain. As the ancient world collides with the present, Lara must decide who to trust among rivals and allies to prevent a catastrophe and protect a secret that could reshape the future.

Powered by Unreal Engine 5, Tomb Raider: Catalyst delivers the largest Tomb Raider world yet where Lara will traverse a landscape full of secrets, delve into lost tombs packed with intricate puzzles, and solve ancient mysteries using her unmatched brilliance and richly customized adventure tech. Perfect for longtime fans and newcomers alike, players will experience an exhilarating story of trust and betrayal that tests Lara Croft in new ways. Tomb Raider: Catalyst is set to launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam."

 

As officially stated by game director Will Kerslake "Tomb Raider: Catalyst" will take place several years after Crystal's 2008 title "Tomb Raider: Underworld", following canonically into the saga, continuing Survivor's Lara journey as we fully enter the Unified Era that began after the release of Netflix's "Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft" (which Season's 2 just came out some days ago!).

A new voice actress will be putting Lara Croft's boots from now on, Alix Wilton Regan, voice known for voicing in videogames as The Last Story, Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Assassin's Creed Origins, Dota: Dragon's Blood among many others!
